Janine is a proud 2024 Fred Rogers Writers’ Neighborhood Fellow, a prestigious fellowship focused on writing for children’s television with Fred Rogers Productions. She is currently writing for an unannounced PBS Kids show and is open to work as a freelance writer, staff writer, and/or writer’s coordinator in preschool and bridge television.

Janine is passionate about writing characters who help children feel seen and understood – the characters who become their best friends and lifelong influences.

With her background in theatre (including a great love of musicals), she is excellent at researching new worlds, writing character-driven dialogue, and it is a well-known fact that questions are her superpower.

A proud member of Women in Animation and Children’s Media Association, Janine is also a Second Round finisher at the 2024 Austin Film Festival.

An Open Letter to Isabella Beck tells the story of Gabby, a 14-year-old middle schooler who dreams of becoming a professional playwright. When a school assignment encourages her to reach out to one of her heroes, she, along with her best friend, starts making YouTube videos for her idol, playwright Isabella Beck. When a prestigious playwriting competition is announced, Gabby is determined to enter, using the “advice” she believes Isabella is giving her based on the videos. There’s just one problem – the contest is for people 18 years and older. Will Gabby find a way to pursue her dream?
