I’m sitting here trying to think of something clever to say and I got nothing.

In fact, I’m reminded of that scene from You Got Mail when Meg Ryan is talking about how when she get’s into an argument, she can never think of exactly what she wants to say.

“I get tongue tied and my mind goes blank”

And in the genius that is Nora Ephron…Ryan can’t come up with the words in the moment. She just moves her hand across the screen.

Blank.

(I wish I could show you the scene, but alas, the Internet has provided me with no clip to share.)

Why do our minds go blank? Why, when we sit down with the determination to do the very thing we love – write – does our mind betray us and give us nothing to say?

I got nothing.
